Is your AC unit green? |
Check out 4 ways to run your AC more efficiently this summer:
Avoid constantly adjusting your thermostat. Feeling too hot one moment and too cold the next? Adjusting your thermostat on a regular basis could have a negative impact on your energy bill. Stick with one reasonable temperature and supplement with ceiling and oscillating fans to help keep your home cool during the summer.
Keep your AC unit maintained. It’s easy to forget that large appliances, like our air conditioners, need maintenance to continue running at top-performance. If your AC unit is malfunctioning or simply not running like it used to, this could be costing you extra money every month, wasting energy, and not cooling your home like it should.
Keep your thermostat as high as possible. 78 degrees is recommended as being a reasonably comfortable and energy-efficient temperature. When it’s 104 degrees outside, however, it may not feel reasonable to you. If this is the case, try fans as suggested above, or energy-saving and home cooling green products like a KVAR Energy Controller, radiant barrier insulation, and nano film for windows.
Invest in an eco-friendly AC unit. There’s no better way to help the environment and reduce your monthly energy bills than by opting for an AC unit that reduces your energy usage. From solar panels to power your electricity to air conditioners that have been designed to reduce energy consumption, you have many options available to you.
